Bye Bye Sweet Youth

Mitch and I are thrilled with our recent plunge into parenting and our little dude gets more amazing every day. That being said...we had to make a decision this week that may seem trivial to some but to us was very difficult. As many of you may know, Mitch and I love our cheesy, rusty Volkswagen Westfalia. Despite our devotion and admiration, the van has seen better days and will require much funding to make it nugget-safe. That being said...today we sold our van. Goodbye people who give us peace signs while we cruise bye, we will miss your throwback ways. Goodbye people that flip us the bird when we hold up traffic while going 35 mph uphill on rural highways, may you excerise your fingers on soccer moms and cell phone talkers. Goodbye rumbling rusty and leaky fuel tank, how your tinny song kept us singing. Goodbye choking diesel smoke, how your chunky fumes kept us running. Goodbye lumpy and too narrow bed, how we loved to squish together and cuddle on chilly nights. Goodbye first major purchase Mitch and I made together. It was fun while it lasted but unfortunately, dear van, your aches and pains will cost too much for us to mend, and we don't trust your foundation for our little nugget. Goodbye sense of feeling cool for having a pop-top Volkswagen Westfalia, may we remain cool in our own minds. And finally...goodbye dear van...hello Pop-Up trailer...we bought one last week!
