On December 15th we, along with Grandpa Dave and Grandma Arlene, attended a fundraising event for the Ethiopians for Ethiopians group. We were all a little nervous and didn't know what to expect...except for the fact that we didn't know anyone. What we found was a group of warm and inviting people, some really cute kids, some other adoptive families and some kick-a** grub. The event was catered by an Ethiopian woman and the food was amazing. The doro wot was to die for. They also prepared lasagna for those not so daring folks.
After dinner it was time for the kids to sing. The little ones sang some christmas songs and were hilarious. The older kids sang a beautiful Amharic folk song. After all was said and done, we were invited to attend Amharic classes at the church and met some nice people. We also confused a little girl....we asked her if she would like to see a picture of our son. When we showed her she looks at our pale faces and said "he's brown?" We said "yes he is and he's wearing an orange shirt." She said "oh" and ran away. It was kind of funny.
