Who Could Even Have Imagined.....One Year Since Referral

This week marks the one year anniversary of our referral for Kefelen. We first heard about the possibility of him on Nov 16th and suffered a difficult weekend not knowing whether he would be ours or not.  We saw him for the first time on the 20th of November, 2007.  The next day we happily accepted the referral.   It seems that we waited and prepared for such a long time, that I didn't even conceive of the possibility that a year would pass so quickly. I used to make lists when he first came home...here's one for old times sake.

Things We Know About Kefelen:
  • He loves Disney's Cars
  • He loves books, right now his favorite is Green Eggs and Ham
  • He is very sensitive and caring
  • He is also very independent but still really needs Mom and Dad
  • He wakes up between 5 and 6 every morning, calls our names, and climbs into bed with us
  • He is now best friends with the dog and is eager to play with other dogs
  • He is obsessed with Zaboomafoo
  • He is silly and quirky and funny
  • He loves music: playing the guitar and keyboard, singing and dancing. He also likes heavy metal.
  • His best buddies are Hazel and Theo. He also loves his cousins Xavier and Morpheus.
  • He really likes snow but doesn't like the cold (go figure)
  • He likes to run (super fast) in his light up shoes
  • He often growls, crawls and plays lion
  • He doesn't like yelling or loud things
  • He is growing like a weed
  • He doesn't like long pants and wears his soccer shirt every day
  • He has a crush on Miss Sophia at the Montessori School
  • He snores
  • He is good-natured and friendly
  • He loves to talk
  • He loves his grandparents
  • Camping is fun (yay!)
What We've Learned:
  • Having a child makes us better people
  • Life's little joys are even better with a kid along for the ride
  • Unconditional love exists
  • We can sleep even with sharp elbows and cold toes in our faces and bellies
  • It's difficult to remember our lives without him
