Unsolicited Pavlovian Response

Much like Pavlov's pooch who salivated at the sound of a tinkling bell, our little Nugget has been tagged by the phenomenon know as classical conditioning. Last night after dinner Mitch popped in an Ethiopian music DVD that the kids at the care center apparently watched a lot. When the music and video began Kefelen ran up to the screen and started bopping a bit. Then he told Mitch and I to sit on the couch and he proceeded to put away all of his toys....cars...magnets...balls...memory game, etc. It was amazing. Not that the kid doesn't help us put things away, but this was completely unsolicited on our part. The video must have been played during clean up time at the center, and, therefore, Kefelen was conditioned to put his toys away at the sound of the music. It was adorable! Mitch and I were cleaning this morning and thought about popping the dvd in to see if Kefelen would grab a broom and attack the dust bunnies...just kidding...we're not that cruel. However, if the toy pile accumulates beyond our control...passers by will be sure to here the Ethiopian melodies wafting from the windows.
